Dr David Powell
Dr Powell is one of the early pioneers of FRMS and has recently retired from the post of Chief Medical Officer of Air New Zealand,
David Powell is a self-confessed flying fanatic who has spent his entire medical career in the aviation sector. He was Chief Medical Officer with Air New Zealand from 1997 until 2009, and is now working for the airline part-time as an aviation medicine specialist, and continues to lead the Crew Alertness Study Group which administers Air New Zealand's FRMS.
He also has a teaching appointment in Aviation Medicine with the University of Otago, and continues to fly, with commercial aeroplane and helicopter licences and an instrument rating, and a shareholding in a Robinson 44.
David consults to various organisations, both in aviation medicine and in FRMS
