Capt. Jim Mangie

jim mangieCapt. Mangie is currently a Lead Line Check Pilot on the B757/767 at Delta Air Lines.

He also manages flight time/duty time and fatigue mitigation programs for Flight Operations at Delta. During his employment of 21+ years, he has performed duties as Flight Instructor, Proficiency Check Airman, Chief Pilot, and General Manager-Domestic Operations. Most recently, he was Base Director/Chief Pilot of Delta’s Atlanta domicile, supervising over 3800 pilots. While at Delta, he has been qualified on the B727, B757, B767, DC-9 and MD-88.

Capt. Mangie has participated in numerous industry groups and forums dealing with flight/duty time and fatigue to include the Flight Safety Foundation’s Ultra Long Range effort and the ICAO Fatigue Risk Management Working Group. In the summer of 2009 he co-chaired the FAA Aviation Rulemaking Committee on Flight and Duty Time Limitations and recently served as the technical advisor to IATA for the ICAO Fatigue Risk Management Task Force.

Prior to Delta, Capt. Mangie flew the C130 B/E/H/H2 for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve, retiring in 2003. He has over 10,000 hours of civilian and military flying time.
