Mr Douglas Mellor

douglas mellorAs founder and business manager for the Forum, Douglas is the point of contact for all inquiries about the day to day direction and operations of the Forum. He is CEO of fatigue research company Fatigue Risk Management Science Limited.

Douglas looks after the business side of the Forum and is the usual first point of contact for any one wishing to join the Forum or enquire about any of its activities.

Douglas is Chief Executive of Fatigue Risk Management Science Limited,(FRMSc Ltd) a research company for FRMS with particular emphasis on the aviation industry. The SAFE predictive fatigue model is available through FRMSc.

Before founding FRMSc with other scientists and airline executives, Douglas was responsible for business development in the Human Factors business of QinetiQ Limited in Farnborough, England. There he saw the opportunity to raise awareness and experience of fatigue management across the airline and other industries through sharing knowledge.

Douglas’ background is in engineering and marketing though he has spent the majority of his career as CEO of a number of technology focussed international businesses with business turnaround and post acquisition merger challenges before joining QinetiQ in 2001. A keen interest in how people function attracted him to work within QinetiQ’s Centre for Human Science where his Business Development responsibilities included fatigue related issues and commercial development of the SAFE predictive fatigue model

Douglas holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Newcastle-on-Tyne, England and an MBA from Glasgow University, Scotland.
